Three of our logos selected for Rockport book
Three logos designed by Design & Marketing have been selected for the upcoming book Master Library: Typography and Enclosures, a LogoLounge project published by Rockport Publishers.

The logos are for Detour Theatre Company, already the winner of an American Graphic Design Award; Genius Groups, a series of workshops produced by the Small Business Development Center and inVenture; and Collins Living-Learning Center, a dormitory on the Indiana University campus.

Master Library is a best-selling series from Rockport Publishers. Rockport specializes in creating brilliantly illustrated reference books for professionals, student designers, and artisans of all types. Rockport’s books present the best in design work around the world.

LogoLounge, Rockport’s source for the book, was born out of a need to find logo reference material more efficiently. Its online directory consists of over 140,000 logos and is continually growing. Its book collections are bestsellers in the design community and beyond.

Logos for the book were selected for their quality, timeliness, relevance, and inspirational nature. They reflect an effective mix of large and smaller firms, geographies, budgets, and client types. This is a big deal for us and we are proud to have our work (and our clients) recognized.

As if all this other recognition weren’t enough, we were the featured sponsor on the Lotus World Music Festival’s website this month.

The article discusses’s long involvement with the Lotus festival as a sponsor, and Cairril’s involvement as a performer with the world music group Kaia (Cairril performs under the name of Cairril Adaire).

Cairril is a strong believer in the Lotus brand. She founded to coincide with the Lotus Festival and each year gives away a pair of tickets to a client. “Providing Lotus with support is my number one sponsorship priority,” she says. “The Festival is a picture of how the world could be, an alternate universe that I want to be part of.”

Lawyer Metrics
Lawyer Metrics is a new company focused on providing statistically based consulting to AmLaw 100 firms. They came to us to develop a stand-out brand to reflect their top-notch talent.

We began by developing the Logo Metrics logo, a combination of clear typeface and evocative icon. The brand identity was then extended into print materials, including letterhead, envelope, and business cards. The look is professional, communicating the expertise of the firm. The color scheme humanizes the look and adds energy to the design.

Our next step was to create a website with a “wow” factor. While Lawyer Metrics competes with consulting firms, no one else has their approach to problem-solving for law firms looking to attract, train, and retain talent. It was crucial that we establish their unique approach immediately.

We began with a Flash splash screen that engages the user with a question and establishes the Lawyer Metrics brand. Once into the site, it’s extremely clear and memorable, with easy navigation to guide users to the information they need. It has one of the fastest load times of any site we’ve designed, without sacrificing an iota of brand impact.
